Regular physical activity is one of the most important things you can do for your health. Physical activity can improve brain health, support weight management, strengthen bones and muscles, reduce the risk of disease, and improve one’s ability to perform everyday activities. Individuals who sit less and engage in any amount of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity gain important health benefits. Only a few lifestyle choices have as large an impact on your health as physical activity. Healthy individuals lead to healthy communities. Unfortunately, minority communities are often disproportionately impacted by health disparities such as higher rates of chronic illness, limited access to wellness resources, and barriers to safe recreational spaces, making opportunities for community-centered physical activity even more important.
